8 tips for wearing summer dresses

When it comes to wearing summer dresses, it's not always easy to add just that right amount of accessories that takes your look from a dress to an outfit. On those hot summer days, layering is no option, so your dress has to do most of the work for you. We thought it would be fun to look at inspiration on how to style those simple summer dresses with a few well thought out details! Let BBQ season begin!
1. Go for neutrals and add a colour pop to your accessories.

These ladies do it with white and red and we think that works really well! We love the little red riding hood vibe that this look evokes and it definitely spices things up. These looks would not have been the same with black accessories!

2. Go Boho

Glamour describes this look as perfect for a brunch with friends and we agree! Don't be afraid to use multiple prints and add a bangle. The key to not making this look to casual is in the chic flat sandal, and the red lips and painted nails make for the ultimate touch that makes this look pulled together.

3. Choose a special print.

We love how Sarah from Classy girls wear pearls added a box clutch and statement necklace to this bird print dress. It makes for an eclectic clash that isn't overly obvious or too matchy matchy!

4. Wear sneakers

No better way to indulge in the sporty trend than to combine your girly dress with some sneakers. We love to pair our dresses with Nikes, Vans and All Stars, to give them a casual off duty look. With these kind of outfits, we love to keep it simple. That doesn't mean that it has got to be a minimal dress, it can be printed or plain, but just let your dress and the sneakers speak for themselves, no need for too much accessorizing!

We like an ultrafeminine slip dress like this one from Nice things or this Hoss intropia Maxi dress to create a great contrast.
5. Polka dot Party

Polkadot dresses can be a bit tricky if you don't like an obvious vintage vibe. The key to styling polka dots in a current way is adding neutral accessories: simple black ray ban aviators and camel shoes and camel bag for example. This instantly makes this look simple and playful, yet sophisticated.

6. Florals are classics

There are some things we never grow tired of, and a good floral dress is one of those things! That's because florals are versatile and feminine, something we always in our wardrobe. Anno 2013, we would style it like Julia Sarr Jamois: simple, with patent loafers and a couple of bangles, although a good cowboy boot makes for an instant festival ready vibe. Dress it up with a sky high pump for evenings and this item can easily be taken from day to night!

7. An unusual colour speaks for itself

A colour like ice blue is a statement on its own. It's fresh during those hot summer days and works well when your dress is clean cut. Wear it simple or add some contrasting accessories for the extra wow factor! A deep red suits the blue like nothing else!

A geometric pattern or print speaks for itself and immediately adds an extra touch to your dress. It works with simple sandals and a blazer, but should you wish to go one step further, anning an extra print, or contrast is key, for example with a clutch (left) or some interesting shoes (right). One thing's for sure, these looks never fail to grab attention!
